Hasn't This Guy Been Punished Enough?

It must suck to be David Leroy Blurton. Not only did this guy shoot himself in the groin, but he’s also getting charged for it!

David claims that he was trying to protect himself from a mugger when he accidentally shot himself in the groin while in the parking lot of a grocery store in Dillon, Colo. Unfortunately David had apparently been hitting the bottle that night and now has been convicted of “prohibited use of a weapon — drunk with a gun” and reckless endangerment. While David continues to maintain that it was all in the name of self-defense, his story just didn’t fly with the jury.

While I’m definitely not advocating playing firearms while drunk and David probably got what he deserved (from the jury at least), didn’t they feel at least a little bad for this guy. He shot himself in the groin for goodness sake. I would figure that’s probably the worst punishment for screwing around with a gun while drunk ever, don’t you think?
