Men With Monotone Voices Get More Action

Now this is pretty surprising! Researchers at universities in California and Pennsylvania discovered that men who have a steadier, more monotone voice have more sexual partners than those who don’t. In order to test this theory out, researchers had participants engage in a number of scenarios, including a dating game, and found that the fundamental frequency variation (how much your pitch changes) was directly correlated to the number of sex buddies a man had over the last twelve months.

So you may be thinking to yourself, why would a woman dig a boring sounding voice. Well just turn to George Clooney for the answer. Professor David Puts says:

“The power would be attractive, not the voice as such. It appears that the women are preferring males who are higher in status. It would be the status they would be most interested in.”

Women interested in status? Who would have thought! So it might be in some dudes’ best interest, particularly if they haven’t yet conquered that whole status thing, to take a few pointers from Hollywood’s leading monotone men. Just remember, George Clooney may have a dull voice, but when do you ever see him hot chick-less?
