Man Gets $5000 For Flipping Off Cop
Not a bad day’s work for one man from Kansas. Scott Schaper of Overland Park was awarded $5000 after he flipped off a police officer when he was ticketed for running through a stop sign. After Scott filed a civil rights complaint against the city of Olathe, they relented and forked over $4000 to Scott. The American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas and Western Missouri chipped in an extra $1000 for the settlement. The officer involved in the incident is also being forced to receive training on how to deal with verbal abuse. Guess it’s time for them to toughen up.
This is pretty awesome, I have to admit. How many times have you wanted to flip off some power hungry state trooper who decided to rain on your speeding parade? The fact that Scott’s small, angry outburst got rewarded with $5000 is going to trigger a rash of middle fingers being thrown up in the air. State troopers get ready for some hateration.
