Canadian Women's Hockey Team Sorry About On-Ice Celebration

While the International Olympic Committee decided not to pursue an investigation into the Canadian women’s hockey team celebration after winning the gold, the team is still sorry about their on-ice antics. Marie-Philip Poulin, team member and sole scorer during the final matchup between the US and Canada, said:

“I’m really sorry for what happened. I think we just wanted to enjoy the moment and that’s just what happened. And it won’t happen again. We’ve learned from that. We’re just going to enjoy that medal right now.”

In case you missed what happened, after winning the gold in women’s hockey, the Canadian team decided to come back out on the ice for a little post-game celebration. The ladies broke out cigars and started drinking beer and champagne in the near empty arena. One of the team members even tried to hop a ride on the zamboni. Clearly the celebration didn’t go over so well and photos were plastered on major newspapers and websites around the world.

But surprisingly the Olympic Committee has decided not to pursue any action against the team. I think that’s probably more attributed to the Olympics being over and no one caring. If only Scotty Lago caught such a lucky break.
