80-Year-Old Woman Gets Thrown in Jail for Burglary

Somethings never get old. That was certainly the case for 80-year-old burglar Doris Thompson. This sweet old woman has never been one to follow the letter of the law and apparently she didn’t see the point of starting now, even if she’s got one foot in the grave. Doris was recently sentenced to three years in California’s state prison for ransacking and stealing money from a Southern California medical office. But this is just the latest arrest in a lifetime crime spree that stretches as far back as 1955. In her illustrious career, Doris has used more than 27 different aliases and has been arrested multiple times, mostly for theft. She’s also been thrown in jail a quite a few occasions as well.

But having been around the cell block a few times, Doris certainly knows what she’s looking for in prison accommodations. That’s why when the sentencing judge decided not to throw her in the Los Angeles County jail, Doris gratefully replied “God bless you.” Doris also believed she deserved a longer sentenced and was thankful to getting off relatively easy. She will be eligible for parole in 18 or so months.

Now I’m not condoning crime here, but you’ve got to give this woman some credit. To still have the gusto to continue a tradition of breaking the law after so many years, well that takes commitment!
