Make Love, Not War!: Free Sex In Copenhagen

Well, I guess that’s one way to offer peaceful, political protest. Prostitutes throughout Copenhagen are reportedly offering their services free of charge during the UN Climate Summit from December 7 to 18. But these ladies haven’t suddenly developed a soft spot for sustainability and curbing global warming. They are protesting anti-prostitution legislation that is being proposed in Copenhagen’s city hall.

Since March 1999, prostitution has been legal in the Danish city, but apparently some members of the legislature aren’t getting enough action in their stuffy bedrooms and are now trying to end the raunchy romps of Europeans and tourists who swing by Copenhagen. The city has been handing out anti-hooking postcards but this measure seems to be backfiring, as delegates can cash in one of these cards for whatever his horny heart desires. Susanne Moeller, of the Danish Association for the Defense of Sex Workers, said:

“All delegates who come to Copenhagen for the world climate summit will be able to use the postcards for payment after making a request on our website.”

“We do not expect many delegates (to make use of the offer), but we want to protest what we consider discrimination.”
