Today’s Celebrity Death: The Toys ‘R Us Giraffe

Here we are, finally able to focus on our work and lives again in the wake of our grief at the Taco Bell chihuahua’s passing, when the inexorable march of time again claims a cherished product-shilling stunt animal, this time, the Toys ‘R Us giraffe.
Tweet the giraffe died Friday at the Franklin Park Zoo where producers are filming the Kevin James movie “The Zookeeper.”
The 18-year-old giraffe didn’t belong to the zoo and had no known health problems.
Tweet also appeared in Ace Venture: Pet Detective, as a giraffe. But PETA claims there’s something suspicious about Tweet’s death…
The organization “alleges Tweet was mistreated and has asked for an investigation.” Tweet was 18, and the average giraffe lifespan is 20 to 25 years. Celebrities live hard, fight demons, and die a little younger than the rest of us; that’s true across the animal kingdom. Rather than tarnish Tweet’s legacy with bickering, let’s just remember him as the giraffe who always reminded us that a kid could be a kid at Toys ‘R Us.
