The First Domain Name EVER

this man used the first ever internet

The first domain name in the entire internet was just sold to a company called XF.com Investments.  On March 15, 2010, the domain name will celebrate its 25th anniversary.  1985!  The site is called symbolics.com, because Symbolics was a computer manufacturer back in the dayz.  They were like, sh*t, we’d better grab “symbolics.com” first so that nobody else takes it.  I don’t really understand how the internet would have worked back then.  Like, “I wonder what’s going on with symbolics.com these days?  Guess I’ll go on down to the internet and have a look.  Maybe they’ve put up some videos of cats doing people things.  Nope, still no videos of cats doing people things.  Somebody should do that.”

The price of the sale has not been disclosed yet, but it will prob not eclipse the most pricey domain name ever.  Can you guess what that was/is?  I bet you can.

Sex.com sold for between $11 and $14 million in 2006.  They were like, now that we spent all this money, let’s make a crappy disappointment of a website as like a joke against the people who were psyched to go to sex.com.  Midgetsex.com, however, is a completely different story.  (Note: do not go to midgetsex.com.)
