Well, There Goes Plan B: Bad News for the Porn Industry
Just as my (f)unemployment approaches in two days I read this article on one of New York magazine’s blogs about a recent LA Times article that reports that the porn industry isn’t just what it used to be. Here’s the Sparknotes version:
- Porn DVD sales have basically stopped altogether.
- Pay-per-view sales are down 50%
- There are no new jobs and seasoned porn stars are now working at discounted rates.
So what’s happening here?
The Reason: Duh, no one has the spare change to pay for their jollies. Another Reason: Exhibitionists. Why pay for your jollies when people are posting their mating rituals on the internet for free? What will happen now? Nooooooo body knowwwwws.
Bottom line: Looks like I won’t be finding a job in the adult entertainment industry either. F*CK.

Well, let’s be honest here. What is porn for? It’s for jerking off. If I can go on the internet, find some sweet-ass pics of Ashley Greene (or videos from numerous free online sources) and get my rocks off, why the hell would I spend >$20 on a porn DVD that I will never see more than 15 minutes of at a time? If you’re like me, you like to see “real” chicks anyway, not porn chicks.
Same goes for PPV porn. Some of those PPV movies are $10 or more, seriously, WTF? I am going to watch a few minutes of it to jerk off and then what?
Internet porn FTW.
