Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan Are Totally in a Fight

Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan had a little dust-up a few days ago backstage at that MTV thing with Alexa Chung. Chris Kattan was like, oh hey Jeremy Piven are you here to promote your Broadway play that you crapped out on because of “mercury poison” aka partying? And Jeremy Piven was like, oh hey Chris Kattan are you… f*ck you. F*ck you and everything about you, Chris Kattan. F*ck you and your entire family, even the recently deceased ones, Chris Kattan.
See, Chris Kattan thought they were just joshin’ but Jeremy Piven was not laughing, nope. Compare the insults of Jeremy Piven and Chris Kattan, after the jump!
Kattan – who’s been in town talking up his IFC miniseries “Bollywood Hero” – greeted Piven with a snarky, “So, what are you here to promote, your Broadway play?”
Piven, who famously dropped out of “Speed the Plow” in December, is in a legal battle with producers who believe the actor fabricated his illness in order to get out of completing his contract, and was none too happy to be reminded of the incident.
The actor sniped back irritably, “Well, what are you here to promote? Mango?” – a reference to Kattan’s swishy “Saturday Night Live” stripper character.
“Oh you thought I did not remember Mango? Wrong again, Chris Kattan. I have been watching you. ’Know your enemy and know yourself and you will fight one hundred battles without disaster.’ So say Sun Tzu. I have been watching you, Chris Kattan.”
Says an insider, “After some back and forth, Jeremy said something really personal to Chris that basically attacked his career. He said ‘Whoa, man - I thought we were just fooling around here.’”
Not the right thing to say to the man who plays Ari Gold, apparently. “I’m getting sued for that s–t!” the actor shouted. “It’s not funny!”
And Chris Kattan was like, no no, that’s why it’s funny. You totally Chris Kattan’d your career with that one! See, I can laugh at myself because that is what famous people do!
He then tried to apologize to Jeremy Piven. ”Our friendship means a lot to me, Jeremy Piven,” said Chris Kattan. ”Wow,” thought Jeremy Piven. ”No one’s ever said that to me before” (true). But no, it was too little too late. ”Your apology is not sorry enough! I’m in Entourage!” he yelled and slammed the door in poor Chris Kattan’s face. Then he counted to 10 in his head, opened the door and yelled, “I still hate you!” and slammed it again.
