Lance Armstrong Loses to Dude He Obviously Hates

It’s almost a victory for Lance Armstrong, in a way, that all the news sources covering the Tour de France finish are headlined with titles like “Armstrong Takes Third in Tour de France” and (better yet) “Lance Armstrong a Favorite for 2010 Tour de France.” Often as not the winner, Alberto Contador isn’t even mentioned right away because pfffft who the hell is Alberto Contador anyway?
Turns out he’s a Spanish guy, 11 years Armstrong’s junior, who completely hates the sh*t out of our mighty American hero, though they are on the same team. So we can more or less agree, I think: f*ck that guy. The trophy ceremony was O-M-G so awkward…
The body language on the winner’s podium said it all.
As the 37-year-old Armstrong climbed onto the stage, he gave a perfunctory handshake to his teammate Contador, then heartily grabbed Schleck’s hand with both hands.
And as Contador took the victor’s bowl, Armstrong cast a long sideways glance at what had long been his spoils; he gave only a cursory glance to his own crystal trophy.
Of course, because he is supposed to be old and dignified, Lance Armstrong only had good things to say about Contador.
“I think this year’s performance would have beaten my performances in 2001, 2004 and 2005.”
Which was like only three of his seven wins. But still, everything Contador has said in the wake of his victory has basically been some kind of whine about how his team was sooo mean to him, and that – seriously – his victory was that much sweeter and more accomplished because he was up against so many mean people.
Contador said the hardest moment of the 2009 race was “in the team hotel”, but that his victory was “more special because of it”.
“This Tour was very difficult as you could see and although it sometimes seems easy on television it wasn’t because of other factors. I will enjoy this second Tour win as if it was a double victory.”
Lance Armstrong kept using all the hotel towels and leaving them on the floor! He flooded the bathroom every time and he drank all the Odwalla at breakfast!

Fuck Lance, he’s an over the hill, money grubbin, celebrity ass-kissin, Texas chump! Alberto’s the man!
I’ve got respect for what Lance is doing for Livestrong, and coming back and competing, but he should have more class than talking about his new team for next year during this years race. After watching the tour this year, I’m more inclined to think Lance has to be the center of attention. He’s all about team, as long as the team is all about him. He’ll have a hard time competing in the mountains against Contador and Schleck brothers next year.
