Video: Boomshakalaka – LeBron James Gets Dunked On

Not such a good summer for LeBron James, huh?  First he and the Cleveland Cavaliers went down before reaching the NBA Finals, thus distracting everyone from whether Kobe Bryant or LeBron was better at doing basketball.  Then, about two weeks ago, there was a clip circulating on the internet that showed LeBron suffering the indignity of getting dunked on by a college player (an especially touchy issue, as LeBron never went to college), Xavier’s Jordan Crawford.  This two-handed is-it-the-shoes action went down in LeBron’s face during a session at the “LeBron James Skills Academy.”  Tough!

But then a Nike representative, at LeBron’s request, went to all the cameramen in the house demanding their footage of the dunk…  As of today, a spiffy HD version has crept online, however – watch it just to spite LeBron for being such a b*tch about getting a petty embarrassment leaked onto the internet.  

See, the footage itself isn’t that bad: even the greatest players get crushed sometimes, and sometimes it happens on court at a “skills academy” cashing in on their own name.  Here’s the shameful part:

Freelance photographer Ryan Miller was one of the cameramen shooting the game.

He told CBSSports.com that Nike Basketball Senior Director Lynn Merritt took his tape.

“He just said, ‘We have to take your tape,’” Miller said. “They took it from other guys, too.”

Worth noting is that there is no policy against filming at the LeBron James Skills Academy, and Miller said he had been filming all day without incident. Nobody ever told him to stop. Nobody ever said there was a problem … until after Crawford dunked on James.

“LeBron called Lynn over and told him something,” Miller said. “That’s how I knew his name was Lynn. LeBron said, ‘Hey, Lynn. Come here.’”

Minutes later, Miller said Merritt demanded his tape.

“There’s nothing I can think of besides LeBron just not wanting it online,” Miller said. “It’s a good story to tell people, I guess. But then again, I’m kind of pissed. I lost my tape.”

But now that it’s online, no one will buy your shoe or your sports drink or your video game or your man-flavored body wash, LeBron James!  HA!
