New Turkish Reality Show Will Make Actual Idols Compete for Worshipers

"i didn't even know it was a contest."

A new reality gameshow in Turkey, called Tovbekarlar Yarisiyor, or Penitents Compete, aims to pit Islam, Judaism, Christianity, and Buddhism against each other in a race to convert ten atheists into believers.   The prize for the atheist “winners” (e.g. the ones who become the best followers) is an all-expenses-paid vacay pilgrimage to one of the Holy Lands – Jerusalem, Mecca, Tibet, or the moon, if the apostate chooses Scientology.  They also win “the biggest prize ever,” according to the show’s website: “the belief in God.”

The working title was Who Wants to Be a Jew? but they decided not to go with that.

The competition is strictly limited to non-believers and contestants will be vetted by an eight-strong commission of theologians before they are allowed to take part.

Converts will then be monitored to ensure their religious transformation is genuine and not simply contrived to gain a free holiday. “They can’t see this trip as a getaway, but as a religious experience,” Mr Ozdemir said.

That’s what Moses said!  (During the taping of I’m a Jew… Get Me Out of Here!)

Ok, enough of that.  You can feel free to make your own Catholicism/confessional joke now, if you’d like.
