The Ten Most Sexist Old-School Ads

In my daily web-rummagings, I come across the odd zany picture, and the Volkswagen ad above is one that has been making the rounds lately. It begins, “Women are soft and gentle, but they hit things,” and concludes, “So when your wife goes window-shopping in a Volkswagen, don’t worry. You can conveniently replace anything she uses to stop the car. Even the brakes.” Letting a woman drive is certainly a road hazard, but floor polish doesn’t buy itself, am I right Volkswagen??

Hilariously over the top as this ad is, a little Google bingo turned up some other vintage ads that were even more sexist. A lot more. Annotated gallery after the jump.
