Likely as not, you’re familiar with Jay-Z’s newest single “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune),” which is Jay’s salvo against the newfangled technology all these young’un rappers seem to be talking about (it’s the robot voice thing that makes every T-Pain song sound like a ringtone). There have been questions, as Jay-Z no doubt intended: is the auto-tune really over? Is it, in fact, Jay-Z who is over? Is recording an anti-auto-tune song just another way of cashing in on the auto-tune “craze”? Probably a degree of “yes” would be fair in answer to any of those questions, though I have come out against the auto-tune in the past.
Regardless, Jay performed the song at the BET Awards last night, and it sounds pretty good live, which I suppose is some proof of its own thesis, since most auto-tuned songs suck in concert. The official video also debuted after the awards show. It has Harvey Keitel in it! After the jump.
Here’s the official video.
Aaaand, just for laffs, here’s the Wendy’s commercial that Jay said broke the camel’s back.
“I just think in hip-hop, when a trend becomes a gimmick, it’s time to move on. I saw a Wendy’s commercial and they’re using Auto-Tune. They’re joking on it. It’s like, OK, enough of that … It was a trend, it was cool in the beginning. Some people made great music with it, now it’s time to move on.”
So thank you, Wendy’s, for showing the music industry the error of its ways.

why did they edit out blood clot?
When will people stop being sheep? Its all rediculous …Auto tune was not conceived by some stupid rapper … and because Jay Z mentions some damn fashion, why are idiots runnin out buyin it?!? THINK FOR YOURSELF and be YOU!!!!!!!!! Everyone is a cookie cut image of the one before … sad.
