Missing South Carolina Governor Turns Up in a Most Unusual Destination

So MIA South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, whose whereabouts were unknown for four days even by his own family, has returned home. Yesterday, his flacks said that he had been “hiking the Appalachian Trail” and that
“We knew that he would be difficult to reach, and that he would be checking in infrequently. Given the media attention this has generated, we’ll obviously update you once we have some more specifics to pass along.”
But it turns out even his own spokesman had no idea where in the world Mark Sanford had gone! Hint: it was just like the Appalachian Trail, but thousands of miles away and with a lot more hookers and cocaine. Where was he?
Buenos Aires!
He decided at the last minute to go to the South American country to recharge after a difficult legislative session in which he battled with lawmakers over how to spend federal stimulus money.
“But I said ‘no’ I wanted to do something exotic,” Sanford said “… It’s a great city.” …
Sanford said he was alone on the trip. He declined to give any additional details about what he did other than to say he drove along the coastline.
To be fair to his staff, he had told them that he “might go hiking on the Appalachian Trail.”
To recap: governor loses legislative battle, gives staff an alibi for an innocent-seeming weekend trip, remains incommunicado to his staff and family for four days, and jets to a mecca for cheap cocaine that is also “one of the world’s premiere sex trade destinations.”
Sure, throwing baseless insinuations would make me an irresponisble journalist (“journalist”). Kind of like how peacing from the continent without telling anyone would make someone an irresponsible governor!

He’d have to have connections down there because Argentinean women aren’t known for being needy! Honestly, someone his age would have better luck getting laid in the States unless he thought getting as far away as possible would offer more cover.
