Prostitute-Loving Ex-Governor Now More Popular Than Non-Prostitute-Loving Governor

Eliot Spitzer, whose March 2008 resignation from the New York gubernational post was delivered post-coitally and sealed with a kiss, is now viewed more favorably than current New York governor David Paterson.  Only 21% of voting New Yorkers view Paterson in a positive light (50% negative), versus 26% and 44% good versus bad for Spitzer.  Don’t call it a comeback!

But what did Paterson do to make New Yorkers hate him even more than the guy who roughhoused hookers?

Most New Yorkers have taken Paterson to task for soiling the state’s budget and tax program, though a general dissatisfaction with the economy also pervades.  Some cite his handling of the nomination of Kristen Gillibrand to the Senate in Hillary Clinton’s old seat, and a few hate on his moves to get gay marriage legalized.  Though more people support than oppose that right now, in that state.

Though the study did not indicate why Spitzer remains unpopular, the breakdown is that 20% did not approve of the way he hired prostitutes, 14% did not approve of him cheating on his wife with prostitutes, and 10% felt that he did not hire enough prostitutes.
