Nuggets Coach: Christ Himself Could Not Have Covered Kobe
June 1st, 2009

Basketball machine Kobe Bryant and his Lakers brought dishonor upon the Denver Nuggets, their families, and all their ancestors on Friday night, 119-92. One Denver sports blog could not be unequivocal enough in slapping the Nuggets in the face:
This was probably about the worst Game 6 that any Nuggets fan could imagine. After playing 4 spectacular games in the series … the Nuggets decided to make one clear cut adjustment … DOUBLE TEAM THE LAKERS and specifically Kobe Bryant.
This was probably the worst decision that I’ve ever seen from a team.
But Nuggets coach George Karl had a different read of his team’s flat-tire performance: no one could have stopped Kobe. Not LeBron James. Not Michael Phelps. Not even Jesus Christ himself:
“No. 24 had a great five minutes at the end of the (first half) that no one in basketball could have covered him. He made about four shots in that stretch that I think Jesus would have had trouble covering. And those took the game from a manageable game to 13 (points).”
Kobe had 35 points, 10 assists, and 1 turnover. To his credit, though, Jesus never turns the ball over, ever.
