Stormy Daniels Will Be the Much-Needed Voice of DVDA in the Senate

In Louisiana, they have this running joke where they always elect the least qualified person for public office that they can find.  David Duke, a major figure in the KKK, once made run for governor there and won a third of the vote.  This was in f*cking 1991.  The guy who beat him was among the most corrupt people in America – he won on “Vote for the crook” bumper stickers.  The current governor, Bobby Jindal, once performed an exorcism.  One of the senators, David Vitter, ran on family values while throwing down with hookers.  Diaper-style.

So it makes sense that star of sexy alone-time videos Stormy Daniels is mounting (get it?) a not-unserious bid to possibly challenge Vitter for his seat.  Why yes, it is the Stormy Daniels of Camp Cuddly Pines Powertool Massacre.  The very same.  Video, after that jump.

She’s been making the rounds among Louisiana voters, talking up issues and feeling up out her chances.  Could she actually win?  Will girl-on-girl marriage be legalized within our lifetimes?

At this point, however, it’s not even clear what party Daniels would run from. Her best chance to defeat Vitter — although probably not to win the seat for herself — would be to turn the Republican primary into a circus and play the role of spoiler, perhaps peeling off voters from Vitter while a “serious” conservative candidate might swoop in to Vitter’s right. That could improve the chances for a moderate Democrat like Charlie Melancon to prevail in the general election.
