Rock Out with Your Sock Out: Listen to Jack White's Latest Band, The Dead Weather

I only bill The Dead Weather as Jack White’s latest project, because he’s the name most people recognize, whether they are a part of mainstream culture or the word-of-mouth music culture that doesn’t depend on media outlets like MTV and VH1.

The Dead Weather, however, is not “Jack White’s new band.” No, all members of this new collaboration he’s a part of boast the names of impressive musicians such as Alison Mosshart (of The Kills), guitarist Dean Fertita (of Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Jack Lawrence (of The Raconteurs and The Greenhornes).

And this time around, it’s not Jack taking front-and-center behind the mic, but Alison Mosshart, whose as sexually appetizing vocally as she is physically. Actually, Jack White doesn’t even play the role of guitarist this time either. He’s actually the drummer of The Dead Weather. That’s right, he can sing, write and produce music, play guitar, bass, and the drums. Gifted bastard.

Scope two of The Dead Weather’s recently released music videos in 3…2….1….

  1. No Stair Way

second song is okay but I was never really a fan of the Stripes. They’re like listening to Janis Joplin meets The Cure on a broken record player with some pubescent vocals singing off note that, when combined, just sounds harmonically mezzed up. Their sounds/beats are simple, almost boring too. That plus never ending and interupting pauses that just plain pissed me off. Even so, there are a few older songs of theirs I do like but over all, I think they’re all a bunch of posers.
