Douchebag of the Day: Larry Flynt & Joe Francis

Over the last couple of months, automakers and banks have been bailed out by the U.S. government, and now the porn industry thinks they should be the next in line for the government perk.
Larry Flynt and Joe Francis put their flacid heads together and forged a plan to help America during her hard times. The pair plans on taking their hairy nuts to Washington and asking for a $5 billion bailout for their respective industry of adult film.
“With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind,” Flynt says. “It’s time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America.”
Francis sees his industry like the big three automakers, only BIGGER: ”Congress seems willing to help shore up our nation’s most important businesses; we feel we deserve the same consideration.”
It’s bad enough we already gave away money to a bunch of old, unethical yuppies giving themselves million dollar bonuses, but now we have to support an industry that teaches men that sex is jackhammering a chick with 475 cc saline implants?
Better we take that money and spend it on sex education for our children and young adults. Not just safety, but how to please our partners too. That would do a much better job of rejuvenating America’s sexual appetite. Thoughts?

Melysa, I think you’re missing the point. What they are doing is genius. They don’t expect to get the money, although if they were offered the money, I’m sure they’d take it.
We rewarded the auto industry and the banks for their failings with handouts. That example has sent the message that regardless of how stupidly a large industry behaves “they can not be allowed to fail.”
What makes the porn industry any less deserving than the people we have given money too?
In a capitalist environment the answer is quite simple and the Douchebag’s message is lost.
