Douchebag of the Day

Alicia Keys in the May 2008 issue of Blender Magazine

Alicia Keys, conspiracy theorist?

During her latest interview with Blender Magazine, the R&B songstress shamelessly declared that gangsta rap was a government ploy to “convince black people to kill each other” and that Tupac and Biggie Smalls were assassinated.

Via New York Daily News:

“The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter tells Blender magazine: ‘Gangsta rap’ was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other. ‘Gangsta rap’ didn’t exist.’

Keys, 27, said she’s read several Black Panther autobiographies and wears a gold AK-47 pendant around her neck ‘to symbolize strength, power and killing ’em dead,’ according to an interview in the magazine’s May issue, on newsstands Tuesday.

Another of her theories: That the bicoastal feud between slain rappers Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. was fueled ‘by the government and the media, to stop another great black leader from existing.’”

For realz?  That Alicia sure is smart.

What other theories do you have, oh wise one?  Was the Easter Bunny was assassinated by the Jews?  Will Santa Claus will soon be outed by Perez Hilton?  Wait, what’s that? You’re straight?!

Oh, Alicia, you’re not a conspiracy theorist… you’re a comedian!

Hey..i don’t think shes a douche…so much shit is happening in the states, and its pretty amazing how such conspiracies are never wrong, but we just put the big question mark to it…

I am proud to know that some decent artist, beautiful and talented like Alica Keys is not wasting her time like all the other dumb-shameless-airbrushed-bimbos who have not a clue what is going on in the world other than their fake titties…

She reads, and awkward and weired as it seems…the history of black people in America has a lot of fill in the blanks as to what really happened to these people…ex…The Black Wall Street, just recently heard of it in history class…as for Gangster rap it does not represent their culture or history in any way…i wonder where it originates from?

Tupac …obvious that the same people he constanly attacks in his music, which has become effective and quite strong among the people, killed him. The police in America are not to be trusted, and so he states it in his music…they cause a scene with biggie and beef starts from there…then again only God know the truth!

Again to a lesser degree Tupac is no different than Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, JFK, Bob Marley, Lennon IN TERMS OF being POPULAR and having die hard fans who understood what he was trying to come across!

So for Alicia Keys…I understand where she is coming from…same thing with that Oscar winning actress who stated that the US government knew something about 9-11…why is she being attacked for stating what she believes in…the media likes to censor many thinks…its just like Hitler!

Sad thing here is that there’s probably many out there who agree with her, or will agree with her for the simple fact that she’s trying to speak about unity and over coming some conspiratorial cover up by our government that’s preventing it. I just love when actors and musical artist speak their well thought out, self educated opinions. After all, “she’s read several Black Panther autobiographies” so therefore, she knows. Next thing you’ll know, she’ll be interviewed on MTV by that moron, Sway. I can see it now.

Keys: Duh, duh, duh. Sway: Huh, huh. Keys: Blah, blah, blah… Sway: For reals? Whoa, girl you deep. They is alot more to you than we see on the surface. You ever consider running for something like politico…wait…ahem…political office? (laughs) Keys: God…Bless god…god! Sway: Well, it’s been an honor. I hope you keep speaking yo mind so that the younger generation will carry on the torch. Thank you… you sooo talented… thank you! (end)

  3. Mona,

I’ll give you Tupac and Biggie. I HIGHLY DOUBT there were assassinated, but it could be POSSIBLE. Still, Gangsta rap was created to suppress blacks is as ludicrous as saying AIDS was invented to suppress blacks. PUHLEEZ!

As Chris Rock said, “Martin Luther King was assassinated. Malcolm X was assassinated. [Referring to Tupac and Biggie] Them two niggas got shot!”

    The Instigator,

You’ve got me laughing so hard I think I peed my panties! (Not literally, but almost!)

She supports the Black Panthers? The Black Panthers are the black KKK. This whore is half white. Her mother is white and she raised this dimwit on her own. Mom should be proud. Not!

Tupac and Biggie were not assassinated. They were killed. Kennedy and King were assassinated. Not a convicted rapist and another career criminal.

And how was gangsta rap a government ploy when it was rappers themselves but more extreme. They rapped about what they saw in their lives. And lot of their “feuds” were publicity stunts that got out of control by outsiders thinking that Tupac and Biggie were actually serious about their “feuds”.

  5. Just a thought!

Some people are so ignorant its kind of saddening. It would help to read the entire interview rather than bits and pieces to ensure that you’re not taking anything out of context. And before you call her ideas insane remember we’re speaking about a government that enslaved african americans for over two hundred years. If that doesn’t make you question things just a little research something called the Tuskegee Experiment…Then tell me what you think…

  6. lanette

why is she a douche bag for having a theory? when rap first came out it was called hip hop, just hip hop..i have no idea where gangsta came from but her thoughts are not crazy.

every person of color needs to wise up and think for themselves…

this is not a country for ALL people…

to call this artist a douche is just wrong. who is she hurting?

you are pathetic and you contsantly call people of color all sorts of name…if you have a problem with Black people why write about them at all?

  7. re: Just a thought!

“…we’re speaking about a government that enslaved african americans for over two hundred years.” Well, what most people are even more ignorant and unaware of are that these enslaved African’s were sold out by their own people to European slave traders. But you know what’s even worse? Funny you should mention the Tuskegee Experiment because guess what, their own people (black doctors/nurses) knew about it, participated in it, and, again, sold them out! Sad but true.

And about Alicia Keys, she’s just another air head example of someone living a privileged life who hasn’t experienced any (real) hardships/struggles, been discriminated against publicly (media), been oppressd by her government, or experienced slavery. So then, why her rush to judgement on such a platform? What makes her an expert on the subject? She read a few books and felt something? There’s a difference between how you feel about something emotionally, and what you think/reason about it. Most people learn this when they go to college. Just because you feel a certain way about a subject doesn’t always mean it’s correct. Shoot, I feel like telling a few girls I work with that I want to bang them but after thinking about it, maybe I should stick to the one I’m dating. She should learn to think before she opens her mouth with such faulty reasoning, creating such comments! Personally, I’m offended because of her young impressionable fan base that this may influence and be interrupted by wrongly.

  8. hey lanette

And let’s not play the race card here, okay. Her so called “theory” is seriously flawed. When rap first came out it was not called hip-hop! And rap isn’t the same as gangsta rap, FYI.

“every person of color needs to wise up and think for themselves…

this is not a country for ALL people…

to call this artist a douche is just wrong. who is she hurting?” It’s this kind of thinking, from you, that is hurting everybody! I seriously hope that I don’t have to explain why!

  9. Just a thought!

Oh boy, not sure where to begin so i’m just gonna try n keep this short. Actually thats not new info, and its funny that you bring it up because thats exactly what Ms. Keys was touching on. People with power have a way of using others as pawns. Africans in fact did sell their own people but they were merely a piece of a much larger plan. In this same way Rappers are being pawned against each other by the media making it less about the music and more about their ‘beef’. African Americans in this country have come a long way but we still have a long way to go. The best way to enslave someone one is by taking their mind. Until you can reclaim that and really start thinking for yourself you’ll never see certain truths. My point wasn’t to discuss who sold who out, but rather to show that when a group of people in power have a plan and the ability to execute they will do so. As extreme and far fetched as it may seem to those on the outside more in life is planned than we some might think. What any of this has to do with your love life not so sure! And Alicia never claimed to have all the answers, just a personal opinion and since when do we fault people for that?!? If we did, you wouldn’t be allowed to speak at all!

  10. lanette,

First off, I can call anyone I want a douchebag. It is my opinion, same way you can defend them. And in case you couldn’t tell, you can’t tell the color of my skin over a computer screen. You know nothing of my heritage, nor where I came from, nor who I hang out with. Racist would be if I target her purely based on her skin. I trashed her theory and that has nothing to do with her skin. Funny how many white bitches I insult on a daily basis on here (i.e., Heidi Montag, Paris Hilton) but you are so quick to forget about that. So don’t look for things that don’t exist just to prove a theory that I’m a racist when a) you don’t know me and b) you fail to look at the entire picture.

Furthermore, at no point in what I wrote did I trash her because of her skin color. I’m sure many of you call people douchebags all the time and barely know them. Also, I never trashed her for raising her opinions. I’d much rather she raise her opinion than people who always try and be PC. But apparently she can voice her opinion, and I can’t voice MINE. If anything you are the ones being prejudice because you assume I’m white (for one) and (for two) don’t allow me to voice MY opinion just because you disagree with what I say.

    re f-listed

True, and thats the beauty of living in America!

P.S. I think ur hispanic bc ur taste n women…am i correct?!? lol

  12. Just a thought!

    That I am! =)

I’m just so enraged that someone would call me a racist, especially when most other T&A sites (like Hollywoodtuna and Egotastic) pretty much have nothing but skinny white bitches, and here I am always trying to showcase all types of women. But apparently that part gets completely ignored. Ugh. It’s infuriating.

Then again…as a white i wouldn’t feel offended to an extreme as a black would be in terms of racist comments… after all my ancestors are British..not to say those who might have been the root cause to most problems today…however my point is that at least Alicia Keys is aware of a problem that is out there today compared to paris hitlon who thought west Africa was a country…

The Biggie and Tupac situation is soo shady…The police know something they just don’t want to reveal…??!?!?!

  14. Mona

then again isn’t blacks and Latinos similar in terms of the historical fate…slavery?

I don’t think F-listed is racist…however Alicia Keys is HOTTTTTTTTTT!!!
