Timberwolves Forward Michael Beasley Cited For Marijuana Possession
When you’ve got nothing to do, sometimes it’s a lot easier to get into a little trouble. Just ask Minnesota Timberwolves forward Michael Beasley who is not having a tough time finding other things to do during this NBA lockout.
Via SLAM!, KARE 11 in Minneapolis reports that Michael Beasley was cited on marijuana possession and speeding last week. The Minnesota Timberwolves forward has a storied history with Mary Jane, having been booted from the NBA’s rookie symposium in 2008 for allegedly smoking out his hotel room with Mario Chalmers and Darrell Arthur. The Miami Heat, who drafted B-Easy No. 2 overall in 2008, also sort of shoved the forward into some odd quasi-rehab program in 2009, a year before peddling his rights to Minnesota for a second-round pick and cap space.
I know the argument is, “It’s just weed!” But when your employer is paying you $6.2 million and you’re the highest paid player on your own team, you probably need to live up to the standards the team has set for you. A little give and take. With the team rumored to have wanted to move Beasley in the offseason, this certainly can’t help his value. Not with a history of drug use in a “fan-friendly” league.
