Death of a PinUp

1950s pinup model and actress Jeanne Carmen

1950s pinup model and actress Jeanne Carmen passed away of lymphoma Thursday at her Orange County home. She was 77.

Having run away from her cotton-picking family at age 13 in pursuit of her dreams, the model became best friends with Marilyn Monroe and is said to have canoodled with Frank Sinatra, John F. Kennedy, and Robert Kennedy.

“I was just a little country girl that wanted to be a movie star,” she told the Orange County Register in 1996.

It was announced earlier this year that Scarlett Johannson and Kate Bosworth were the lead runners up for the role of Jeanne Carmen in a movie about her life. Carmen had originally wished for Christina Aguilera, but due to her recent transition into motherhood she would not be available.

Pinup models are by far some to the sexiest women ever. Modeling is so bourgeoisie now, but back then those woman were really considered controversial. May she rest and peace and the movie on her life do her justice.

The kicker is going to be when Bettie Page passes away. Silly to say, but I think I just may shed a tear or two that day.
